Tara Rooney, owner

I’ve been a registered nurse since 1992, but my journey in caregiving began long before that. I became a certified nursing assistant in high school and spent five years in that role, discovering early on how much I loved working with the geriatric population. Their stories, their wisdom, and their resilience have always felt like gifts to me. Some of my fondest memories are the hours I spent with my own grandparents, listening, learning, and laughing — moments that shaped the way I care for others today.

Over the years, my nursing career has taken me across the country, including Washington, Alaska, Virginia, and South Carolina. I’ve worked in settings as varied as Sitka Community Hospital, University of Virginia Home Health, and the South Carolina Department of Health. I also had the privilege of creating and teaching a certified nursing assistant program at Calhoun Technical College, helping prepare the next generation of caregivers.

In 2019, I followed my heart and started a companion home‑care business for seniors. My goal has always been simple: to provide individualized, compassionate support that helps people stay happy, healthy, and independent at home for as long as possible. In 2025, I expanded my work by becoming a certified end‑of‑life doula through the University of Vermont, allowing me to walk beside individuals and families through life’s most tender transitions.

I gain so much from the people I serve. My clients are truly some of the coolest people I’ve ever met — not just for who they are today, but for everything they’ve lived through and overcome. Their stories enrich my life every single day.

Outside of work, I’m happiest spending time with my family, especially my two adult children, Presley and Baylor. I love cooking (I’ve worked in two restaurants and even catered), gathering with friends, going to concerts, and being outdoors — whether it’s camping, mountain biking, boating, or simply soaking up fresh air.

Caring for seniors isn’t just my profession; it’s my calling. Every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported, and it’s an honor to be part of their journey.
